Psychological Assessments

Wichard Assessment & Development provides psychological assessments for, among others, recruitment and selection, promotion, retraining, career and vocational choice, and situations in which an individual experiences difficulties in functioning. Each assessment is tailored to the specific question and to the context in which a person works and functions.

Our assessments differ from traditional HR or competency-based assessments in that they focus not only on whatsomeone can do, but primarily on how someone functions. Particular attention is given to behaviour, resilience, functioning under pressure, and organisational and work culture. The focus is therefore not only on suitability, but also on sustainable employability and development.

We work with a combination of psychological tests and professional interpretation by a psychologist, with explicit attention to the local, cultural and organisational context, particularly within the Caribbean region. At the same time, our methods align with international professional standards, making the assessments applicable beyond the region as well.

The results are documented in a clear and carefully substantiated report, suitable for selection and development decisions, HR and policy considerations, or as a basis for further guidance or diagnostics.

Psychological Assessment for Firearm Authorization

Carrying a firearm requires psychological stability, sound judgment, and emotional self-control. A psychological assessment is therefore an essential component of careful and responsible decision-making. Wichard Assessment & Development conducts independent psychological evaluations for both organizations and individuals applying for or renewing firearm authorization, including security services, law enforcement, police, and other roles involving firearm responsibility, as well as individual applicants. The assessment comprises multiple components, including the evaluation of cognitive functioning, personality, and psychological stability, and is always concluded with a personal interview conducted by a licensed psychologist. The findings are documented in a clear, professional, and independent report suitable for submission to the relevant authorities.

Psychological Assessment of Decision-Making Capacity

Wichard Assessment & Development conducts psychological assessments of decision-making capacity in situations where decisions have legal, financial, or societal significance. The assessment focuses on whether an individual is able to understand relevant information, appreciate the consequences of a decision, and make a well-considered choice.

The evaluation is grounded in psychological expertise and is always tailored to the specific question and context, such as notarial matters, legal proceedings, or other situations in which there is doubt about an individual's capacity to decide. Careful attention is given to cognitive functioning, insight, judgment, and the influence of any psychological or emotional factors.

The assessment concludes with a clear and independent report, suitable for use by involved professionals and competent authorities. Care, independence, and respect for the individual are central throughout the process.

Interim Behavioral Expertise and Organizational Support

Wichard Assessment & Development supports organizations in addressing issues where behavior, collaboration, and professional performance are under pressure. We can be engaged as an interim behavioral expert and provide guidance in complex cases, team dynamics, and organizational challenges.

Our support may include substantive assistance to teams, intervision, advisory services on behavioral issues, and the delivery of training programmes. The focus is on professional functioning, communication skills, leadership, managing emotions, and conflict resolution, always tailored to the organizational context.

We work flexibly: online, on site, or through a combination of both. Our approach is adapted to the nature of the request, the organizational culture, and the local and societal context in which the organization operates.

Short-Term Psychological Support and Coaching

Wichard Assessment & Development offers accessible psychological support and coaching when immediate guidance is needed. This service is suitable for both individuals and professionals who require a timely, careful, and professional conversation, without long-term trajectories or waiting periods.

The support consists of short-term, goal-oriented sessions with a psychologist. These sessions may be used in cases of emotional strain, work-related stress, complex decision-making, communication issues, or professional dilemmas. The focus is on gaining insight, managing emotions, and strengthening professional conduct and decision-making.

Sessions take place in a safe and confidential setting and can be conducted online or, by arrangement, on site. The approach is flexible and tailored to the specific question and context of the client, professional, or organization.

Training, Teambuilding & Lectures

Wichard Assessment & Development provides training programmes, team development sessions, and lectures for organizations seeking to strengthen professional performance, collaboration, and behaviorally informed practice. The content is grounded in psychology and closely aligned with the everyday realities of professionals and teams.

Our training and team development focus on themes such as communication, collaboration, leadership, managing emotions, conflict resolution, decision-making under pressure, and professional role clarity. The approach is interactive and practice-oriented, with room for reflection, skills practice, and discussion of concrete situations from the workplace.

Lectures are used to offer insight into behavior and group dynamics and to make complex topics accessible and open for discussion. They are suitable for meetings, study days, conferences, or in-company sessions and are tailored to the audience, context, and objectives.

All activities are developed as tailored solutions and take organizational, cultural, and societal contexts into account, with particular attention to the Caribbean region. Where appropriate, training programmes and lectures can be delivered in Dutch, English, or Papiamentu.

Check-In – Professional Monitoring of Operational Readiness

The Check-In is a brief, periodic instrument that supports organisations in monitoring professional functioning and operational readiness in demanding roles. The Check-In is offered digitally via a secure platform, completed by the employee, and professionally reviewed by the provider. Where necessary, appropriate follow-up is initiated.

The Check-In is intended for sectors in which mental alertness, emotional regulation, and decision-making under pressure are essential for safe and responsible work.

The instrument is signalling and preventive in nature and forms part of professional policy and duty of care.

The Check-In:

  • is not a diagnostic or therapeutic instrument

  • does not assess suitability or fitness

  • supports timely and proportionate follow-up

When signals of reduced operational readiness are identified, a professional evaluation follows, focused on functioning and appropriate support.
